Meeting with Senators: Canadian & Australian Delegations Start Strong

🇨🇦 On April 2nd, 2026, the International Youth Council on Gender Equality’s Canadian delegation met with Dr. Kristopher Wells — Senator, professor, researcher, and leading advocate in advancing equity and inclusion.


It was a productive, insightful conversation focused on advancing gender equality, strengthening youth engagement in policymaking, and addressing pressing challenges across Canada.


On March 27th, 2026, the International Youth Council on Gender Equality’s Australian delegation met with Jana Stewart, the youngest First Nations woman elected to the Australian Federal Parliament and a leading advocate for gender equity and Indigenous rights.


The discussion focused on key issues including the gender pay gap, gender-based violence, and the disproportionate impact of inequality on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Senator Stewart shared powerful insights from both her personal journey and professional work, emphasizing the importance of representation, early intervention in policy, and the need for intersectional approaches to gender equality.
